Hello, I was wondering if there is a tutorial or article on how to configure better human friendly links on the directory, I'm using google analytics to track traffic and all the listings are falling into the following page:

[script removed]

I'm interested in tracking what "listings" are being visited more often, would also like to know if searches go directly to a detail listing, (and what keywords it used to get there).

BTW, this product works as advertised, it's great !

Hi ricardorangel,

Thanks for the kudos. I really appreciate it.

Sorry not to get back to you sooner. We have been in the studio all day recording videos for our new upcoming eCourse.

Xmod currently does not yet have the ability to create a true user friendly link to the details page.

In fact, it took some work on my part to figure out the linking values.

That is why I added the bookmark feature so your business lister, who may not have their own website, could link to the details page and use it as a mini-site.

Or, you could use the bookmarth path to hardcode the link elsewhere on your site.

You need to pass the module ID, record ID, and default view (2 equals Detail page).

The best we can currently do is for example:

I am looking into affiliate link cloaking software for another project I am working on. I might find something useful to address the URL of the detail page.

If I do, I will post it here.

Buck

Hey Buck,

I am still quite new to Business Directory but having the details veiw highly optimizable in terms of SEO if very important for the directory I am creating. Would it be possible to create a form view for the details page? This way we could place an instance on a specific page for the details page of a listing - in particular for premium clients which would then be more easily optimized in terms of the url and of course more human friendly.

Thanks,

Pat

Hi Pat,

Take a look at the XMod project, XMod Detail View for XMod 5.0 - PA, at http://www.dnndev.com/Projects/tabid/319/Default.aspx.

This is a details view module that installs on a specific page and allows you to add additional DNN modules on the same page. It comes with documentation and you should be able to download it from the XMod site once you have registered.

Its use will take some customization of the current Business Directory application. Specifically, the use of the current More Info button which is an XMod control that  is designed to open the built-in detail view directly from the form. This button, if using the detail view for XMod module, will need to be replaced with a link to your specific page that the detail module is placed on.

Take a look at the documentation that comes with the download and you will see what I mean.

Buck
