I want to upload info for 500 items into my directory (e.g. hotel name, descirption, contact details, region). Is it possible to do this using an sql script rather than loading each individually? Is there a good reference document dealing with data structure on the xmod directory?

Thanks for the reference material. I got the import working perfectly and learned quite a bit along the way!

Now I'm trying to do an update import. I have my XModId's and related fields in an Access table. Trouble I have is modifying the xsml transformation to specify the opening Record Id field using the XModId in my table.

For the import transformation the transform code is:

Record id is hardcoded in this case. How do I read it from my Access table?

Stephen,

I just happen to be talking to Kelly Ford, developer of XMod.

The import process was not designed to update existing XMod records. It was designed only to add data to the Xmod database.

It may be possible to perform an update but you will have to ensure that your Access database somehow has the ID of the Xmod record(s) you want to update.

Buck

Yes, that makes sense.

I am trying to upload 983 NEW files. The system says it imported the files but I can't see them in the directory at all.

How can I check to see if they really uploaded? And why can't we see them?

thanks
Stephen

Don't forget that in XMod records are tied to the input form via the formid.

It maybe that the imported records have a different formid to the form on your site.

Usually the way to accomodate this is to export and import the form definition along with the data.

Another way would be to change the formid of the affected records in the kb_xmod_modules table.

we don't make XMod, we make it better!

Well, we have uploaded the file but it is not reading all the record. Wondering if we are calling the other fields by the right name. I see these: Abraham
Lincoln
123 Main St

Springfield
IL
62650
But how do I see a list of other required instancedata?
I haven't been able to export a list that shows all the fields. Anyone have an idea?

thanks
Stephen

There is an export function - it saves the xml file to the root directory of your website. Getting all the field names is messy - suggest using xml editor (I used visual studio).
