We have been making steady progress on BD 6.1.

  • We have added an Advanced Directory Search form.
  • We have added 3 additional contacts with the ability to add personal data.
  • We have added testimonials
  • We now have email encryption that protects the company and contact email from spammers and spider robots.
  • We have added a Featured Companies template.
  • We have added a coupons section where you can upload up to three coupons (or Yellow Page ads) and print these images.
  • We have added an audio section.
  • We have added a Printer Friendly button.
  • We have added map, photos, video, and audio icons to the list view template to inform users if these features exist on the details page.
  • We have added a Share With Friend form.
  • We have configured 5.1 to be used on a separate XMod detail module. This allows you to now add the Inquiry form and Share with Friend form to the same page as your detail template.
  • Business Directory 6.1 is now XML compliant and you can export form data to Excel through the XMod administration console.
  • We are also testing the FatGeorge Add-on called Syndication to help the search engines list the detail pages.

You can see these changes in action on the live DNN Business Directory

Please be patient.

It is very important, when we release a new version, that it is well tested and documented. If we don’t go through this process it involves hundreds of our clients having issues with the product and that is not acceptable.

We will place a notification on the website when the new version is ready for release.

This will be a free upgrade to Business Directory 6.0 customers.

Hi Buck

The demo looks good but I have a suggestion.  I think the info on the RHS should be in tab format.

For example, a tab for requesting more info and another tab for sending the page to a friend.

It would look a lot cleaner that way and easier to use.

Thanks

Hi FM,

Thanks for the suggestions.

The Share with Friend and Make Inquiry forms are separate forms from the main Business Directory form. They can not be included in the same tab structure as the Business Directory detail view.

But, they can be arranged on the separate detail page any way your skin allows, could be incorporated in the DNN Stuff Aggregator tab module, or even placed on separate pages if you pass the correct querystring parameters from the list view template.

Thanks Buck

Just to clarify, so you are saying we can take both of those items and put them in a separate tab structure that will still appear on the right hand side of the detail view?

In other words, the detail page will appear the same except that instead of those items appearing one underneath the other, they will both be part of the same tab module system?

Hi FM,

On the separate detail page for  http://dnnprofessor.com/DNNDirectory.aspx, I have added a XMod Detail module for the listing details, a Xmod FormView module for the Tell a Friend form, and a Xmod FormView module for the Make Inquiry form.

On this detail page I have a skin that has a content pane and a right pane.

I optionally added the Make Inquiry form and the Tell a Friend form to the right pane.

I say optionally because you can add one or the other or neither form to this detail page.

They are completely independent of the detail view template.

To further clarify my last response post, I mentioned that you cannot add two forms and a detail template to the tab structure that is built into the detail view template.

But, you can us the DNNstuff Aggregator module to condense the Tell A Friend and Make Inquiry form area.

I have demonstrated this by adding the aggregator module to the details page of the DNN Directory.

simply click the More Info button on any listing to see it in action.

Does that help?

Buck

Hi Buck

That's exactly what I wanted, it looks much better now.

Thanks!
