I'm sure I'm overlooking something but have been working on this for over an hour and can't get it to work.

DNN 4.9.4
X-Mod 5.01
MMI 6.1 - MMI6 List View 2 and MMI6 Detail View 2 on Separate page

Record created by Admin and later assigned to another Registered user via Admin panel, Assign to User. When this user logs in, there is no Edit icon for the specified record. The page where MMI is installed is restricted to a specific role (Editor) and the user is assigned to that role.

What am I missing?

Ed

 Hi Ed,

The form uses the XMod contol to assign a user to a record.

For security reasons, only the assigned user and the Administrator can edit a record.

This is not on a security role basis but rather on a logged in user basis.

Have you tried to login as that specific user to see if the edit icon is then exposed to that user?

More information on the adduserpicker control can be found here.

Buck

The user was assigned to that record using the X-Mod function on the MMI6 admin panel, not through DNN roles. I have logged in as that user and there is no ability to edit the record. Sorry if I did not make that clear in my OP.

I have used adduserpicker on other forms I've created and not seen this problem. These are the steps taken:

1. Login as Host
2. Create several MMI6 records
3. Verify all data is displaying as expected
4. Edit one of the records to "Assign to User" from MMI6 admin area (maybe you call that the control panel, but the first thing that comes up when an existing record is edited)
5. Select an existing registered user from drop-down
6. Add email address for that user (field required but not populated from user data)
7. Logout
8. Login with selected user's credentials

At this point I would expect that user to be able to edit the record, but no edit icon is displayed.

Thanks,
Ed

I have noticed something else that might be related to this problem and could help figure out where I have screwed up.

When logged in as Host or Administrator with DNN in Edit mode, I see the Edit, Delete and Unapprove icons for each record displayed using List View 2 Template. If I switch DNN to View mode, the only thing displayed is the Unapprove icon. BTW, Auto-Approve All Records was set in form settings and Unapprove Icon is still displayed, but maybe this is by design.

Question: Shouldn't the Edit and Delete icons be displayed for each record in both Edit and View modes when logged in as Administrator? That's the way it works in simple X-Mod forms I've created in the past where [xmod:editbutton] and [xmod:deletebutton] were not used.

Sample records I've created on your test site seem to work as expected (edit icon visible), so I'm not sure what's different with my installation of MMI6.

Ed,

All XMod applications, that I have recently worked with, only reveal the approve button when in view mode when using DNN 4.9.4.

Can you check on your form settings if you have XMod allow edit values set?

XMod module action menu >> Manage Forms >> Edit with Plain Text Editor >> Settings Tab

Xmod form setting edit approval

That was it! I had the Before Approval boxes ticked but not After Approval. Since I had it set to Auto-Approve All, I didn't think it looked at that option.

Thanks for helping me sort it out.
